About the paintings Fishing lures can be exceedingly simple and remarkably complex, and above all, exquisitely beautiful objects. A life-long interest, I never tire of contemplating them. Putting aside the obvious appeal of color, texture and form, it is intriguing that a piece of inanimate material becomes animated simply by adding eyes – even if the most minimal or abstract marks – and that gesture gives them life. The lures are painted life-size, in oil.
